Time: 2009-01-13

Willemin, a leading Swiss high precision machining center builder, now offers the bar fed 408B five-axis micro-machining center equipped to use round or profiled bar stock up to 1.0" diameter. Featuring a swiveling spindle from 10 to 100 degrees, the machine provides five-sided machining standard and with optional back working capability for six-sided machining. Additional features include X, Y and Z travels of 10" x 5" x 12" with feeds up to 1,180 ipm; a 30,000-rpm and 7-hp spindle with HSK-40E taper; and a 24-position tool changer.

The 408B is useful for high precision, small and complex part processing in a single cycle for the medical, ordnance, aerospace and computer industries, as well as others requiring micro-components. A horizontal dividing head provides the C axis, and parts are held with a precision collet clamping system. The 408B allows users to produce parts in one or two clamping operations only, resulting in improved surface finish, increased productivity, higher precision and more predictable quality. The machine is available with a Fanuc 16i control, The bar feeder holds a 1" x 108" long bar.
